Newton Abbot Community Shed is a space being set up by a local group of friends who know for themselves how satisfying it is to make and fix things.

It doesn’t matter how skilled or knowledgeable you are – this is somewhere to learn from each other, try things out, pass on any skills you do have… and drink tea! Everyone is welcomed, accepted and respected.

All this is, of course, also helping protect the environment and save people money through repairing, reusing and repurposing everyday objects that otherwise might end up in landfill.

We are a group of individuals from very different backgrounds who have got together to form a community shed in Newton Abbot.

Our Shed is somewhere to come to make, repair and up cycle items, and have conversations.

Our sessions take place in Room C1 (part of the former pottery studio) in Newton Abbot Library.

At first our meetings will be on Fridays, between 9.30am and 12.30pm, with the first meeting being on 7 July. We will develop and add to this in line with members’ requirements. Please sign up for our mailing list in order to receive the latest updates.

We are aware that there are people who are lonely, bored or just looking for friendship. The Shed is a place they can meet others whilst keeping busy or just coming in for a chat.

We aim to set up a workspace which can expand to include a variety of activities according to the wishes of members. A Repair Café is high on our list of priorities.
